Reflections on Mindy Seu's On Gathering

Mindy Seu's concept of not the gather-ing, but the gather-er was super interesting to me, because it honestly made me realize that...we are all gatherers. We collect hobbies, quotes, pieces of information throughout our lives by instinct; we don't actively sort things into containers as we collect them, but rather we collect them first and then take a step back to look at the patterns that we've drawn on our own. I really liked the idea of developing containers. A website can be a container, a book can be a container, a movie can be a container, and even a thesis can be a container. Throughout our lives, we are all just creating containers for others in order to be able to understand ourselves. I never thought of a website as that way, but looking back on all of our Series, I realize that each of our sites was representative of the individual interests and the passions that comprise our class. We are all gatherers, and both the Series and the Gatherings are designed to help us display what we've gathered in an effective container.
